Home / About / Cape Breton to Alberta
Field to Founder
Two places. One enduring identity.
Cape Breton supplied the roots. Alberta supplied the proving ground. Both remain central to how Mike sees work, opportunity and community.
The East Coast foundation
Community before profile.
Cape Breton is more than a point of origin. Its culture places a premium on story, loyalty, humour and personal accountability. Those qualities travel well—especially into industries where teams depend on one another.
The move west was part of a wider Canadian story: skilled people following opportunity to Alberta and building new lives around demanding work.
The Alberta chapter
A place that rewards action.
Alberta’s industrial economy created room to learn, contribute and take risks. It also revealed the volatility behind opportunity—cycles that affect careers, families and entire communities.
That contrast helped shape Mike’s interest in employment access, industrial storytelling and ventures that can make a difficult market easier to navigate.
