Field to Founder

From Cape Breton to Alberta—and from field experience to building platforms.

Mike’s personal story is defined by movement, reinvention and an enduring respect for the people who do difficult work.

Raised with East Coast values: community, humour, resilience and the expectation that your word should mean something.

Alberta offered opportunity and a demanding industrial environment where credibility comes from showing up, learning quickly and understanding the work.

Hands-on industrial experience created an operating perspective that cannot be learned from a boardroom alone—how schedules, risk, safety, customers and crews interact in real time.

When employment uncertainty hit the industry, Mike launched Oilfield Job Shop to make opportunities easier to find. The project later evolved into Energy Job Shop.

From Pipe Nation to MLV Digital, each new chapter has extended the same core idea: use lived experience to build clearer systems, stronger platforms and useful stories.
